Alla Barabtarlo, head of Rare Books and Special Collections, unfurls a 16th century manuscript. Made of animal skins, this parchment scroll records the biblical Book of Ruth and probably was written by two Jewish scholars.

Library ‘mislaid’ classic books (The Advocate)

More than 9000 books, including rare classics, have gone missing from the British Library. Library staff insist they do not believe the valuable books have been stolen, saying instead they have been ''mislaid'' somewhere among the 650km of shelf space at its central London base.
